Cupcakes & Pastries debuts during the Spring/Summer 2009 season. The creative talent behind the brand is
none other than the mother of a now 2 year old super-active girl! The concept was to create dresses that can be worn to afternoon mother-daughter tea parties where tea, cookies, candies and cupcakes & pastries are served!
"Initially, the dresses were created with my daughter in mind" says Inshi Khanna. "And after seeing how adorable the dresses turned out, we (my husband and I) knew we would introduce them to the market. The collection immediately received an amazing response from many of the finest retailers throughout the country and and thus, provided enough validation."
The idea to develop C&P became clear: To create fun, adorable, fashion forward, yet timeless dresses, for little girls, with a women's contemporary flair. With many children's contemporary brands costing as much as their parent counterparts, we wanted to make sure ours remained more affordable while still offering the look fashion conscientious parents would appreciate.
"My daughter is my main inspiration," says Inshi, "I look at her and I feel creative. Children are a wonder and full of love...their magical ways easily allow for a creative outlet." With another baby on the way, we're sure there's plenty more inspiration in the future!
The fine lines of inspiration can be drawn from almost anywhere or anything. Nature and architecture inspire. Old English, French or Indian movies have such unbelievable fashion trends that are always timeless. Traveling always brings experiences that continually inspire!
